Get clued up: Fairtrade
Fairtrade Fortnight (Monday 25 February to Sunday 10 March) is the ideal time to take a closer look at what’s on our plates and to think more carefully about the food we buy and who produces it.
And to enjoy delicious chocolate, juicy fruit, fresh flowers and thousands more top quality products.
It's also an opportunity to celebrate better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.
Much of our food has travelled thousands of miles and passed through countless hands before reaching ours.
Farmers and producers in the developing world – and closer to home – are often the ones who bear the costs and the risks of trade, while global companies make the profits.
We are all part of the food system - which means we have the power to change it. Changing the food we buy - choosing Fairtrade products but also local and sustainable labels - the amount we waste and saving energy to reduce carbon emissions can all help tackle poverty.
Call on the Prime Minister for a fairer food system as part of our Hungry for change campaign >
