We are encouraging supporters to join together and walk the final 100 miles of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela to raise funds for CAFOD.

If you decide to take part in the Camino, you will be responsible for planning your pilgrimage, but we are here support you with advice and information, we can organise your Pilgrim Passport and we can to introduce you to fellow pilgrims.

We'll be suggesting dates for teams of pilgrims to meet up in Piedrafita to complete the Camino and we'll also be organising a training weekend for interested walkers this spring- dates and location for the training weekend to follow very soon.

If you are thinking of taking part in this challenge, the following websites can be very useful:

  • The Confraternity of St James exists to give help and advice to pilgrims
  • American Pilgrims on the Camino has lots of great, practical advice on its FAQs page, including how to get to Piedrafita O Cebreiro
  • CAFOD is not responsible for the information on these websites, so please check with us before booking any transport!
Year of Faith logo

We hope that in this Year of Faith, you will be able to take part in the Camino for CAFOD and that we can welcome you to our group of pilgrims.
The ‘route of the stars’, named because it lies beneath the Milky Way, takes pilgrims along the beautiful and peaceful countryside across the north of Spain, ending at the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. The route has existed for over a thousand years and offers a physical, mental and spiritual challenge to those who take it on. By walking in community, we hope you will be able to share the journey and your reflections along the way.

For more details of next year’s pilgrimage, please contact us on 0207 095 5329 or cafodchallenge@cafod.org.uk
