Plumpy’nut can save a starving baby’s life in just one month.

As you read this, 6.4 million people in Niger, West Africa face a severe food crisis. Join us today to support young children and their families who find each day a struggle.

Babies and young children like Hassana (featured above with her mum, Haoua) are often the most vulnerable and due to lack of food, they can easily become dangerously malnourished. With our supply of Plumpy’nut and through our wider nutrition programme, we are able to restore babies back to a healthy weight in just one month.

A gift of £20 today can cover the cost of getting a month’s supply of Plumpy’nut to a baby dying of hunger

Haoua’s husband is a bricklayer and there are times when he cannot find work. This means they often have no money for food. Haoua and her family normally eat millet and maize but when food prices keep rising, especially in a failed harvest, the amount of food they can afford is reduced.

Haoua’s other children are healthy but Haoua did not have enough milk for all her children so Hassana became sick. Thanks to the nutrition centre, Hassana has access to Plumpy’nut and other life-saving assistance that has enabled her to recover in just one month.

“For me, the most important thing is the health of my children and getting enough food for them. The rest is for God.”

A gift of £40 can help us bring nutritious food and medical care to severely malnourished children and their families.

We are working through people with local knowledge to run nutrition centres, distribute food to the most vulnerable, organise seed fairs so that farmers can plant in the next agricultural season and pay people in cash or food to work on projects that benefit their communities. Please watch our video to find out more about what we are doing.
