Big Climate Connection: it’s time to get connected!
This Friday and Saturday, CAFOD campaigners from across England and Wales will join with supporters from over 100 different environmental and development organisations in the name of climate change. The Big Climate Connection aims to show MPs that climate change matters to all of us, as mothers, fathers, parishioners in the pews, teenage activists and concerned grandmothers.

Now is the time to influence: we need to strengthen the Energy Bill going through Parliament this autumn. And this December’s international climate talks in Mexico must move forwards in ensuring a fair, ambitious and binding global climate deal
Why you should act
It’s vital that we act now. People are already feeling the effects of a changing climate, from rapidly melting glaciers in Bolivia to increased drought in Kenya. Communities here in the UK are experiencing rising fossil fuel prices, fuel poverty and higher food prices as a result of food shortages. In developing countries, the poorest and most vulnerable are bearing the brunt of droughts, floods and extreme weather conditions.
Getting involved is easy
You can do one of three easy things to ensure that your voice is heard this weekend:
- email your MP to tell them you want a strong Energy Bill and ambitious leadership from the UK at the UN climate talks in December
- contact your local coordinator to attend an event in your constituency – check out the Big Climate Connection map for more details
- if you’re attending an event, tell your local press about it with just a click of a button.
Whatever way you choose to act, act now!
