Climate change: Special delivery to the PM
On 21 December, CAFOD joined 24 other charities from Stop Climate Chaos - and a team of huskies - to deliver a Christmas card to Downing Street for David Cameron. The giant card was signed by over 40,000 people, all calling for action on climate change during 2013.
In 2008, David Cameron was instrumental in securing the UK’s world-leading Climate Change Act, and in 2010 he pledged to lead the ‘greenest government ever’.
As part of Stop Climate Chaos, we called on the Prime Minister to renew his support for tackling climate change and supporting renewable energy, and to live up to the promises he made in 2006 after visiting the Arctic to see at first hand the impacts of climate change and to understand its causes.
CAFOD’s Head of Campaigns Clare Lyons said “We’re committed to tackling poverty, and we cannot do that without tackling climate change, because the world’s poorest people are the ones who are most affected by a changing climate.
"This special delivery to David Cameron helps us keep up the pressure on our government to ensure they deliver on the promises made in the Climate Change Act to cut carbon emissions.”
