Hungry for change campaign launch
On Saturday 10 November, campaigners, of all ages and from almost every diocese in England and Wales, will gather at Westminster Cathedral for the official launch of our new Hungry for change campaign.
The day will start with a liturgy from CAFOD’s Chair, Bishop John Arnold. During the day, campaigners will hear from theologian David McLoughlin on Jesus’ radical approach to food, from Father Joe Komakoma about the challenges facing farmers in Zambia and be inspired to action by CAFOD’s Head of campaigns Clare Lyons.
Organiser Maria Elena Arana said, “As well as looking forward to all that this new campaign can achieve in tackling poverty, we’re also celebrating all the amazing work that campaigners have done in the past 50 years - from securing debt cancellation to promoting Fairtrade, banning landmines to pushing climate change up the political agenda.
“We’re looking forward to hearing from some inspiring speakers, but most of all from campaigners themselves as they share their ideas, skills and passion for justice.
“We hope they’ll come with questions and leave with confidence, after workshops from political researchers on lobbying MPs, journalists on targeting local media and policy experts unpacking the facts behind the campaign.”
The day will also include an enormous shared feast and unseasonal picnic, showing the importance of sharing and the power of food to unite us all.
Don’t miss out. There are still a few places left. Book now >
