CAFOD and over 170 other development agencies and faith groups are joining forces in London on Saturday 8 June to show world leaders the strength of support for urgent action to tackle global hunger. And you’re invited.

Head of Campaigns Clare Lyons explained, “In June the UK will host the G8 summit where world leaders could take huge steps towards ending the scandal of hunger. They have the power to act. But whether they seize this unique opportunity depends on us.

"There is enough food for everyone – but only if governments unite to make companies more accountable, fight tax dodging, focus aid on small-scale farmers and stop land grabs.”

IF you do one thing to support the Enough Food for Everyone IF campaign this year, please join us on Saturday 8 June in London’s Hyde Park, 2-5pm. Find out more about the event >

The day will begin with prayer, worship and commitment to action at an ecumenical service at 11.30am in Westminster Central Hall.

Tens of thousands of people will then gather in London’s Hyde Park for the campaigning event of the year. During the afternoon, you will be able to join a vast symbolic action, enjoy live music, listen to big name speakers and experience an amazing, unforgettable atmosphere. Invite your friends on Facebook to the rally on 8 June >

Clare Lyons continued, “In the last month alone we’ve seen amazing evidence that campaigners can influence government policy in favour of the world’s poorest people. The Budget commitment to spending 0.7 per cent of national income on life-saving aid and new legislation compelling companies to open up their books both show clearly that change is possible – if we speak out.

“The G8 summit is our chance to push for so much more – changes that could transform the lives of people in poverty. Please join us on 8 June.”
