Daniel Ruiz is director of the human rights program with our partner, the Human Development Institute in Bolvia. This World AIDS Day, he speaks out about living with HIV and why he campaigns for the rights of other people affected by the virus.

The BBC’s Outlook programme interviewed Daniel Ruiz, who describes in a frank and moving interview how discovering that he was HIV-positive led him to help other people come to terms with their diagnosis and rebuild their lives.

IDH’s human rights programme has campaigned for respect for people living with HIV and AIDS in Bolivia, and has helped to create a network of mutual support groups run by people living with the virus in Bolivia.
