In 2011, 13.3 million people across East Africa were affected by a devastating drought. Our Church partners told us it was the worst drought in living memory.

Your amazing support has helped people in Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan and Tanzania to survive the drought and rebuild their lives. Your generosity has:

• provided emergency food aid
• improved water supplies
• supported pastoralists, who rely on livestock for a living
• helped people rebuild their lives for the long term

CAFOD’s Fergus Conmee said: “We have been overwhelmed by the compassion of Catholics in England and Wales. Their generosity has made a huge difference to the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. Although the situation has improved a little in most areas, drought is an ongoing problem in East Africa. That’s why we’re working there for the long term, ensuring that people in remote communities have access to food and water, that they can rebuild their lives, and that they will be more able to cope with droughts in future.”
