CAFOD's media team provides up to the minute information to journalists of all CAFOD's work at home and around the world from emergency situations to campaign actions.

Damian McBride - Head of Media and PR 

UK Media team - Damian McBride

Damian is the Head of Media and PR, and has worked for CAFOD since April 2011. He has previously worked as Head of Communications at HM Treasury and as a media adviser to Prime Minister Gordon Brown, and most recently worked at Finchley Catholic High School in North London. He is responsible for all CAFOD’s communications with the media, and acts as the lead contact point for the media on issues relating to CAFOD and its work. Nana Anto-Awuakye

Nana Anto-Awuakye is the Senior Media Officer for humanitarian emergencies, and has worked at CAFOD since August 2005. She has previously been a BBC radio producer, producing programmes such as Woman's Hour on Radio 4, and Outlook on BBC World Service radio, and ran the United Nations radio operation in Kosovo.  She is responsible for CAFOD's national and Catholic media coverage of all aspects of  humanitarian response and policy. Pascale Palmer

Pascale Palmer is the Senior Media Officer for Policy and Campaigns, and has worked at CAFOD since November 2008. She has previously been a staff news reporter for the Daily Mirror and Sunday People, Content Editor for AOL (UK) and a journalism trainer for the British Council in India. She is responsible for CAFOD's national and Catholic media output on all policy and campaigns issues. She is also the lead contact for media relating to CAFOD's work in Latin America. Ged Naughton

Ged Naughton is Acting Regional Media Manager, and has worked for CAFOD since February 1996. He has previously worked for local newspapers and worked in CAFOD’s Press office for six years until 2001. His media strategy for CAFOD’s Millennium Stars Liberian football tour won ‘Best Public Information Campaign by an NGO’ at the One World Media Awards. After three years as CAFOD’s Youth Team Leader, he has been running his own business, specialising in Media Relations & PR for small businesses, social enterprises and the not-for-profit sector. Sophie Bradley

Sophie Bradley is the PR Manager, and has worked for CAFOD since April 2009. She has previously worked as Celebrity Relations Executive at Action for Children and as head of radio promotions for fabric music venue and record label, with a background in music industry promotions. She is responsible for CAFOD’s PR strategy, including media work relating to our World Gifts programme and other fundraising campaigns, and manages CAFOD’s work with high-profile supporters including David Harewood MBE, Dermot O’Leary and Delia Smith CBE. Ellie Wilcock

Ellie Wilcock is the Press Office Assistant, and has worked for CAFOD since March 2011. She has previously worked as the Assistant to the Advisory Nurse at the Local Education Authority of Montpellier, France, and in the CAFOD Supporter Relations Team as receptionist and Support Relations Assistant.  She is responsible for the day-to-day running of the press office and is the main contact for general media enquiries.
