Catholic schools’ success at Church School Award ceremony
Five Catholic Secondary schools are celebrating their resounding success at the national Church School Awards ceremony held recently in London.
The five schools beat hundreds of applicants from Church schools throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland to be recognised as shining examples of living out their Christian values and contributing to making the world a better place both locally and globally.
The Church School Awards, originally launched in 2010, is an award ceremony open to all Church schools. The awards are designed to promote the fantastic and vital work done in the areas of community cohesion and global citizenship; the big society in action!
The panel of judges acknowledged the incredibly high quality of submissions this year. “It was a privilege to see the amazing difference students and school communities make in very practical ways. Well done Notre Dame Schools in Plymouth and Norwich, Corpus Christi in Cardiff, St John Fisher in Peterborough and St John Houghton in Ilkeston,” said Susan Kambalu, of CAFOD’s Education Team.
The Church Schools Award is supported by CAFOD and a range of Church based organisations and entries are now open for both primary and secondary for 2012/13.
