Celebrating 40 years this summer, the Greenbelt Festival is an eclectic mix of arts, faith and justice. Taking place from 23rd to 26th August at Cheltenham Race Course, CAFOD will be there campaigning for an end to global hunger. And by signing up to be part of our volunteering crew, you could be there too.

This August Bank Holiday the horses and fancy hats at Cheltenham Race Course move aside for music, worship and campaigning as the Greenbelt Festival touches down. The festival describes itself as “a heady mix of creativity and challenge”, and we’ve been a fixture of the weekend for many years now.

For us, Greenbelt Festival is a great opportunity to talk to young people about our work. And this year it will be all about our Hungry for Change campaign.

Hungry for Change looks at the global food system, and asks, if there is enough food for everyone, why are nearly a billion people across the world not getting what they need. Tonight alone one in eight will go to bed hungry.

We’re looking for volunteers who would like to come and help us campaign, encouraging festival goers to get involved and sign our petition. You’ll need to be passionate about creating change; have lots of energy and enthusiasm; and love meeting and talking to new people.

In return we offer a free ticket to the festival with camping, food vouchers, and the chance to join our fun and friendly team who are changing the world.

Catherine, who volunteered at Greenbelt with us last year said: “Greenbelt is always fertile ground for campaigning, as there are so many like-minded people and committed Christians willing to engage with a number of peace and justice issues.  While it was wonderful to return to a hot bath and cosy bed on Monday night, it was really sad to think that I had to wait a whole year for my next Greenbelt!”

To volunteer you need to be available from Thursday 22nd to Monday 27th August, and preferably over 18 years old. For more details and to apply send us an email at shynes@cafod.org.uk
