School children lead the way with raffle for CAFOD
Students at St Edmund’s Catholic Primary School in Whitton showed you’re never too young to get involved this week, by organising a raffle for CAFOD.
Maggy, 10 and Maya, 9 from St Edmund’s Catholic Primary School in Whitton, were inspired to organise the event after hearing stories about CAFOD’s and our partners, and the work we do to make a difference to the lives of people living in poverty around the world. They said:
“We’ve raised £20 for all the people in need, by doing a raffle for the people in our class and all the teachers we had six prizes and the cost of one ticket was 20 pence. We made sixty all by hand and with our own design. We hope this money can make a difference to people in need.”
“The girls’ commitment is inspiring,” said Susie Steyn, of CAFOD’s fundraising team. “It really does make a huge difference: £20 is enough to buy soap, buckets and water purification tablets for 4 families in Zimbabwe – vital supplies that can improve their health and change their lives hugely. We love our young fundraisers; they do so much for CAFOD.”
Jon Stricklin-Coutinho, CAFOD’s Westminster diocesan officer said: “It’s great to see Maggie, Maya, and supporters all over the Westminster diocese use their talents and creativity to help people make their way out of poverty. What a fun and inspirational way to make a difference! This was a raffle where everyone won in the end.”
Maya and Maggy are proof that everyone can get involved in fundraising. We hope they’ll inspire you to get involved, and are grateful for all of their hard work raising money for CAFOD. And if you don’t have time to hand make your own raffle tickets, why not order some, and enter the CAFOD World Water Day Raffle?
