They braved the rain, wind and storms, but Team CAFOD were still out in force and full of smiles as they completed their runs this month!
It was the first ever Yorkshire Marathon two weeks ago, and CAFOD had five dedicated runners taking part in the route through historic York city centre. Luckily the rain held off as CAFOD staff and volunteers from our North East offices lined the route to cheer on our runners through to the end, with family and friends of our team joining through the day to wave their CAFOD flags.
Fr Paul Dowling, who took part in the marathon, told us: "It was a really well organised day, and I was delighted with the cheers past the 24 mile mark- I needed it! I've always been a supporter of CAFOD and I'm already looking forward to taking part in more races next year."

Right on down to the other end of the country and last weekend our team of 15 CAFOD runners and 12 junior and mini runners took part in the Great South Run. Despite the oncoming storm, there were smiles all round as runners from Portsmoth, Westminster and Brentwood diocese completed the race with family, friends and CAFOD staff cheering them along.
CAFOD supporter Mugeni Sumba from Oaklands secondary school in Waterlooville broke his own record and completed the race in just 1h 6min. He told us: "The conditions were difficult out there today, I think the wind was the hardest aspect of it! It was a good day out however, this is my fourth Great South Run for CAFOD and next year I am running the London marathon for them too, which is really exciting!"
If you would like to take part in next years Great South Run for CAFOD, entry is now open! Please see the Great Runs website to register now.
