Job profile
One of CAFOD’s key aims is to help increase the power and influence of women and men in the poorest communities to make positive changes on the decisions affecting their lives; a strong understanding of governance is vital for our programmes if they are to achieve this. This post will work with our programmes staff and partners to develop analysis on governance issues rooted in our programmes and use these insights to give CAFOD a strong voice in external debates. This may cover a broad range of issues such as land rights, elections or the political space for civil society. This analysis will draw from CAFOD’s work with civil society partners and the Church and also help to inform these programmes. Working in the Governance and Programme Advocacy team, you will work closely with CAFOD’s programme, humanitarian and policy staff, and engage with key external audiences.
Job role
You will play a leading role in helping CAFOD understand and articulate its approach to governance, providing in-depth research and analysis. You will also support CAFOD to develop programmes based on rigorous understanding of political economy analysis and power dynamics. A key element of your role will be to communicate key messages from CAFOD’s research and programmes to external audiences and decision makers.
Your profile
You will have an in-depth understanding of governance issues, particularly political economy and power analysis. This will be coupled with excellent analytical skills and knowledge of appropriate research methodologies. You will be able to communicate complex issues clearly and build relationships with colleagues around the world. As someone able to take responsibility for own work, you will be able to deliver results and take the lead on identifying solutions to problems and making change happen.
