Job profile
CAFOD’s Campaigns Team is responsible for mobilising the Catholic constituency in England and Wales to take action on global injustice and challenge the structural systems which keep people in poverty.
This role is suited to someone interested in a career in advocacy, seeking to gain experience of campaigning. You must have a keen interest in campaigning on international development issues.
Your role will include helping with section administration and the general running of the campaigns team, as well as opportunities to develop your skills in helping with logistics and planning around our campaign supporter days and larger coalition events.
This voluntary role would ideally involve a commitment of 2 days a week, for a minimum of 5 months (end of June) although the terms and conditions of this placement can be negotiated.
Job role
- Working with the Campaigns Team on event logistics
- Assisting the Campaigns Officer with section administration including photocopying, arranging travel, booking and attending meetings, writing minutes, processing campaign invoices, collecting and distributing post, inputting data into the supporter database, and handling general logistical matters.
- Assisting in the sorting, filing, archiving, ordering and distribution of documents and campaign materials.
- Assisting in the upkeep of the electronic portal and filing system – uploading documents and pictures, drafting news stories and helping to compile the Campaigns Monthly Update.
- Answering and responding to internal enquiries from other teams or offices, or external enquiries from CAFOD supporters by telephone, letter or email.
- Assisting with research related to audiences (e.g. students, MP correspondents) or campaigns.
- Assisting with mailings, correspondence and small projects as and when they arise.
Your profile
- A keen interest in campaigning and development issues
- Excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills
- Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel, Access)
- Sensitivity to CAFOD’s Catholic constituency
- Experience of organising events would be an asset
Commitment
- 2/3 days a week for a minimum of 5 months
- Preferably able to start appointment with immediate effect
- Hours to be confirmed on appointment
