Meet our team
Below, you will be able to read the inspiring stories of some CAFOD staff and understand what they do in their daily life to make a change.
Which team do you work in and what is your job?
As Campaigns Officer, I am responsible for supporting campaigns projects and events. At the moment, I work on ‘Thirst for Change’ liaising with dioceses and producing relevant material such as newsletters and blogs. I also lead on international campaigns and will oversee CAFOD’s campaign work around the Rio Conference on Sustainable Development next June.
What inspired you to join CAFOD?
The role in itself is really exciting! Having worked previously at the international level, I wanted to focus more on campaigning in the UK. While I was a student, I volunteered extensively with charities so I was thrilled that the role involved working with volunteers and supporting local campaigners. CAFOD sees its relationship with supporters on the long-term and I liked the idea of being part of that community.
Which team do you work in and what is your job?
I currently work in the International Division as the Mano River (Sierra Leone and Liberia) Regional Representative, based in Freetown. I started this role in November 2010, which is quite fascinating and challenging! I am responsible for managing and directing the implementation of CAFOD’s strategic plan in the region and providing strategic representation at the national level with Government and other key stakeholders including the Caritas family.
Exciting things I am currently doing:
I am currently working with the team on identifying ways and options by which CAFOD can demonstrate programme impact in the lives of people! This is our calling; and being able to have the opportunity within an Organisation like CAFOD to put smiles in people’s faces is a privilege.
Which team do you work in and what is your job?
I work as part of the Africa Liaison Team as an Information and Liaison Officer supporting our offices in the Horn and East Africa and West Africa. My role is to provide a broad range of support in areas such as grant processing, information sharing and communications. I also act in a representational role on behalf of the offices in UK based groups and other fora.
What exciting thing are you currently working on?
The Connect 2 Ethiopia is a very exciting project that I am currently involved in where we are sharing the experiences of a community in Ethiopia with parishes in England and Wales through the use of a diverse range of media. An important element of this is hearing stories directly from people living in the community and a reciprocal sharing from communities here.
Which team do you work in and what is your job?
I work in the diocesan office for Nottingham, based in Leicestershire. My role is Diocese Officer and I work three days a week.
What inspired you to join CAFOD?
I have always been a supporter of CAFOD and after a career as a deputy head teacher in a very challenging school and then a Chaplain in an independent school I was looking for something a bit different where I could follow justice and peace issues. I was delighted when this role came up.
Which team do you work in and what is your job?
I work in the IT department as part of the Applications Team looking after CAFOD's key applications such as our Intranet, HR and Payroll systems.
What attracted you to CAFOD?
My initial interest was for the role itself as I had recently attained a certification as a Microsoft Technology Specialist in SharePoint and the role CAFOD was offering was a SharePoint related position. I had also heard of CAFOD when I was younger as we raised money for them at school. It was a while ago but from what I remember we were selling little badges to help raise money for CAFOD.
