Robin Hood Tax debate: Watch it here!
On Tuesday 29 March, St Paul’s Cathedral hosted a debate entitled ‘Should we Bank on the Robin Hood Tax?’ Jointly organised by CAFOD, Tearfund, The Salvation Army and St Paul’s Institute, the debate focused on the extent to which the financial sector has a moral role to play in contributing to the common good.

Earlier this year, CAFOD supporters lobbied their MPs on the UK Bribery Act, which faced long delays and fears of dilution as a result of intense corporate lobbying of government.
Now, after months of delay, the government has revealed the Act will finally come into force in July this year – a major triumph in the fight against bribery and corruption and their devastating effects on the world’s poorest people.

'Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights' published
Following six years’ research and consultation, the United Nations has released a set of ‘Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights’. The ‘Guiding Principles’, led by UN Special Representative John Ruggie, aim to provide for the first time, an authoritative global standard that will ensure businesses respect the human rights of the communities in which they work.
