  4. Caritas Social Action Network and CAFOD: “We must not allow a trade off between the needs of the poorest at home and overseas.”

    In response to the Chancellor’s Autumn statement, the social action arm and the official development agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales have said a consistent approach is needed to protecting people in poverty both in the UK and overseas from a recession they did not create.

  5. Chris Bain responds to the Queen’s Speech

    The UK government has failed to introduce legislation in the new Parliamentary session to guarantee the spending of 0.7 per cent of national income on aid to the poorest countries. This is despite the UK becoming the first G8 member country to honour its promise to spend 0.7 per cent of GNI on development this year.
