Supporting marginalised groups

Action for Development is an indigenous NGO, founded in 1997 to build on the achievements of the Freedom from Hunger Campaign. It works primarily in marginalised dry lands in south Ethiopia, in particular parts of the Borana zone of the Oromia region, and the Gamo Gofa and Wolayta zones of SNNPR. In these drought-prone areas poverty is widespread and people subsist in fragile environments.

In the way it works, Action for Development promotes the empowerment of pastoralists and other marginalised groups, and of the women within those groups, supporting them to claim their legal rights and entitlements.
