Your fundraising is vital to CAFOD’s work. It means we can support people in need all over the world. So a big thanks for helping us to fundraise this Lent.
Top 7 Tips for Organising an Event:
Think about the 5W’s!
WHAT are you going to do?
WHO do you want to come?
WHY are you doing it?
WHEN will it be?
WHERE will it be?
Get others to help you – it’s more fun organising something with others, and also a lot easier. Make sure everyone knows what they’re doing. Work together and your event should run smoothly and be a great success.
Make sure people know about your event – it’ll only be a success if people come. Put up posters to advertise in places like the back of church or the local shop. Spread the word to local newspapers and radio stations so that as many people as possible hear about it.
It may seem obvious, but make sure your expenses for the event are less than what you’ll raise – people may be willing to donate things/their time to help keep your costs low so always ask.
On the day, make sure people know what and who you’re raising money for so that others know. If you’d like any extra Lent posters, stickers, money boxes or envelopes then just call us on 020 7095 5682, email communityfundraising@cafod.org.uk or you can also order via this website.
Make sure people can donate however they like – have money boxes and collecting tins around, but also make sure people can sign a Gift Aid form as well to make their money go further (these are available on all the Lent 2010 envelopes, so you may like to order more). You can also set up a JustGiving page so that people can donate online, just make sure people know the address, include it on posters and anywhere you promote your event.
And finally make sure you tell us what you are doing / have done and send in any pictures you may have taken so that we can use your story to inspire others!
