Clean Water
This
is Marcus. He is ten years old and lives in Nigeria.
Marcus is drinking clean water from the pump in his village, Maigiginya.
Water is a vital part of the environment.
A few years ago there was no clean water in Maigiginya. Dirty water meant
that infants often became ill with diarrhoea and died.
New wells
The people in the village set up a team of volunteers to dig wells
for clean water and build toilets in houses. Now far fewer people become
ill.
CAFODs
partners, the Mothers Welfare Group in Kaduna, funded the villagers
work. A school and a health post were also built.
Dirty
water kills
A quarter of the worlds population does not have
access to clean water. People need clean water to drink in order to stay
alive.
FACT:
In the developing world 10 people die every minute from diseases caused
by unsafe water.
