Ways to get involved
How can I volunteer, or work, with CAFOD?
CAFOD is always keen to hear from people who are willing to volunteer in the UK. See our Jobs & Volunteering section for more info, which also contains our latest job vacancies.
Do you have to be Catholic to work for CAFOD?
CAFOD has a considerable number of Catholic staff, but also employs staff at most levels of the organisation who are not Catholic but who share CAFOD's vision and values and its ethical framework. The job descriptions for each post specify what kind of knowledge and understanding is needed of the Catholic Church in the UK or overseas.
Can I volunteer overseas through CAFOD?
No, CAFOD does not send volunteers overseas.
CAFOD works through well-established local organisations overseas that are already fully staffed, mostly by professional, local people.
While there is unquestionably a value in sharing ideas and skills between developed and developing countries, CAFOD believes that members of local communities should be trained and supported in finding their own solutions.
Can I get involved through the website?
Yes, we have loads of ways to help our work online.
You can take campaign actions, set up a regular direct debit or donate, get tips on how to fundraise for us, join Team CAFOD which undertakes many exciting challenges to support our work, or join our Online Community and join in the debates and discussions on our noticeboards. Find out more here
