Great Manchester Run 2009

The Bupa Great Manchester Run will take place on May 17, 2009 and is one of the world's fastest growing running events and Britain's premier 10k

The event features a great course, bands, a charity village at Manchester Central (formally G-Mex), plus a whole range of other activities and entertainments across the City.

Sixty runners took part in the Great Manchester Run last year for CAFOD and raised an amazing £15,000. People of all ages are encouraged to take part.

Motivated to run together in 2008 were father-and-son team Tony Smith, 45, and Oliver, 18, from Swinton (pictured).

Team CAFOD has 75 places available in the race - we are asking people to commit to raising £150 minimum sponsorship that will go towards supporting our work with some of the world’s poorest communities.

Whether you have your own place in the run or would like a CAFOD charity place, we will provide:

  • A CAFOD running vest
  • Training schedules and top tips
  • A fundraising pack, sponsorship forms and your own fundraising web page
  • Team CAFOD e-newsletters
  • Lots of support on the day!
