New York City Marathon - places still available
You could be part of Team CAFOD taking part in the Big Apple's biggest race on November 2 - but the deadline for entries is about to close so apply online now
The 38th ING New York City Marathon continues to grow in size and is now one of the world's greatest road races.
It draws more than 85,000 applicants, two million cheering spectators and 260 million worldwide television viewers.
The course passes through New York's five boroughs: Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Manhattan, uniting dozens of culturally and ethnically diverse neighborhoods.
The route passes over bridges, dodges a few potholes, and finishes at Tavern on the Green in the world-famous Central Park. Crossing the finish line in such a fabulous place is one of the great thrills of a lifetime.
After months of hard training, CAFOD supporter Rebecca Williams achieved her dream of completing the 2007 marathon in under four hours!
She says: "The views were amazing as we crossed the bridge. As we passed Central Park, I remember people in the crowds shouting out my name – such an amazing experience."
Deadline for entries is September 15
