Friday Self-Denial
For many years CAFOD supporters in parishes throughout England and Wales have denied themselves luxuries on Fridays. The money they save is given to CAFOD to fund a wide range of work in poor communities.
This may happen every week, every month, or during Lent or Advent.
Over the years Friday Self-Denial has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for CAFOD’s work overseas.
It is a great way to show solidarity with those living in poverty and is also a good way to remind ourselves of the luxuries we take for granted.
If you would like to participate in Friday Self-Denial, you can:
- order some collection envelopes or boxes from the resources section.
- combine Friday Self-Denial with other activities such as prayer or liturgy - see CAFOD's worship resources
- fill in the Gift Aid slip on each envelope you return, making your gift to CAFOD bigger at no cost to yourself!
