Elizabeth Dewhurst of St Mary's Horwich, Bolton recently presented CAFOD Salford with a cheque for an incredible £1400.00. Elizabeth, who is 23, was sponsored by family and friends to walk round the Isle of Anglesey in April.

Elizabeth wanted the money to be used to buy two community water supplies from the World Gifts catalogue. CAFOD Salford was delighted to be able to fulfil Elizabeth’s request and would like to congratulate her for raising such an amazing amount of money, which will transform the lives of two communities in the developing world.

Shoe-shining success

The children of Corpus Christi RC Primary School, Bournemouth raised a fantastic £1,800 for World Gifts. Each class chose a gift and, encouraged by the theme Using Their Talents, the children embarked on a range of activities from making bookmarks to sell at the end of Mass, to a shoe-shining stall.

The activities and messages behind the fundraising enabled the children to focus on the issues of poverty and their role in bringing an end to poverty and injustice in the world.
