Virgin London Marathon
CAFOD staff and supporters gathered together at the London Marathon on Sunday to cheer on Team CAFOD as they raced a whopping 26.2 miles.
21 runners took part in the Virgin London Marathon 2010 running the 26.2 miles (or 35,000 footsteps!) from Greenwich Park to The Mall to raise money for CAFOD.
Despite the rainy start, it was a spectacular day with CAFOD cheerers out along the course at miles 13, 17 and 21. The first CAFOD runner to finish was 29-year-old Bruce Wilson from London who came in at 3 hours and 25 minutes.
Runners travelled from far and wide to take part in this year's event - including one runner who - due to the air disruptions the previous week - only just made it back from Dubai to run.
Runners hope to raise over £30,000 in total from this year's event. A massive thank you to all our runners in this year's event and to everyone who supported them along the way.
Inspired by this year’s Virgin London Marathon?
Why not think about applying for the 2011 race? We have a limited number of places but are welcoming all applications. We ask all our runners to commit to raising a minimum of £2,500 for their place. Get your thinking caps on about how you could achieve this and get in touch .
