Become an MP correspondent

YOU CAN.

Your local MP is your link to parliament. They have a say over decisions which affect the future of the world’s poorest people. And as a constituent, you have a say over what they do on your behalf.

You don’t have to be an expert. By contacting your MP you can use your power and passion to help change the systems that keep people in poverty.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Through letters and meetings with MPs, CAFOD supporters have already secured tough climate change laws, and seen billions of pounds of debt cancelled. We've grabbed ministers’ attention and changed government policy.

WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?

As a CAFOD MP Correspondent, we’ll ask you to write to your MP three times a year. And when we need to up the pressure for change, we’ll ask you to visit your MP too. You need to live in a constituency in England or Wales to join our MP Correspondents' network. We’ll support you with:

• a starter pack
• sample letters or lobbying info to equip you to act
• training, support and opportunities to share ideas with other MPCs.

Please note: We are now asking MPs to write to Norman Lamb, instead of Ed Davey, due a government reshuffle.

Since we asked you to take action there has been a small government reshuffle. Ed Davey has replaced Chris Huhne as Energy and Climate Change Secretary. Norman Lamb has taken over from Ed Davey.

Ed Davey oversaw real progress on country-by-country reporting and we wish him well for his new, crucial role in Government.

It is more important than ever that you take this action so Norman Lamb understands the importance of this issue and continues the good work.

If you have already asked your MP to write to Ed Davey – it will be picked up by Norman Lamb and you will receive a response. If you are yet to take action, please ask your MP to contact Norman Lamb. Thank you.
