People, goods, money and ideas are moved around the world faster and cheaper than ever before. This can be a force for good, but the poor are losing out

Thanks to better transport, communication and technology, everyone is increasingly connected. But rising inequality means the poor receive less benefit from this growth.

International bodies can place checks on the ambition of powerful nations and corporations, but this is failing to happen.

Lack of transparency

The World Trade Organisation (WTO), the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have been criticised for a lack of transparency and accountability - they need reforming.

The EU and US preach free trade, but often fail to practise it. For example, the EU dumps its subsidised produce in developing countries' markets, destroying local farmers.
