Working for justice and reconciliation
CALDH is a high-profile human rights group working on post-war justice and reconciliation, democratic development, labour rights and disability issues
Aims:
· To strengthen the state of law in Guatemala and contribute to a meaningful process of reconciliation between the state and its citizens after 36 years of war and genocide.
Project Objectives:
· Organisational strengthening and the rebuilding of social fabric
To strengthen the organisation of indigenous communities, through the Association of Justice and Reconciliation (AJR), in their call for justice against the perpetrators of the mass genocide of the 1980s.
· Advocacy for justice and reconciliation
To raise awareness and solidarity amongst the national and international community for the efforts of the victims of human rights violations to achieve justice, peace and reconciliation.
· Legal support and accompaniment
To accompany legal processes at national and international level to bring to justice those responsible in Guatemala for crimes against humanity.
· Lesson-learning (systematisation)
To learn from the experience and methodology of the Justice and Reconciliation programme in order to share these with similar processes in other parts of the world.
