1990
In Sri Lanka, conflict broke out between government troops and insurgents in the south, displacing more than one million civilians and dividing the country into war zones.
CAFOD partner SEDEC was one of the few grassroots groups able to bring aid relief to the beseiged population.
1991
CAFOD focused its three-year education and action campaign on Latin America and the 500th anniversary of the colonisation of Latin America in 1992.
1992
Rise like the Sun - a festival in Bristol with Christian Aid to celebrate the peoples and cultures of Latin America. CAFOD vigils were held in October to remember the 500 years since Columbus's arrival in the Americas in 1492.
CAFOD Resources Shop in Stockwell Road opened in the Autumn.
1993
New CAFOD three-year campaign focused on refugees and displaced peoples.
1994
First edition of Fairground for primary and secondary teachers.
One World, One Family celebration to mark the UN year of the family. Barbican Centre, London, 25 June.
CAFOD has 12 Regional Organisers throughout England and Wales, each covering two dioceses.
1995
Landmines Action launched on March 1 at the House of Commons as part of the Refugee Campaign.
CAFOD's Cambodian partners called for a total ban on landmines as they spoke to groups in parishes and schools throughout England and Wales.
1996
CAFOD launches a programme of preparation and celebration for the third Millennium in schools and parishes
1997
Severe drought and frosts in Papua New Guinea destroy crops and put 500,000 people at risk of starvation. CAFOD makes an immediate grant to Caritas PNG and a CAFOD team facilitates training for diocesan staff on responding to disasters.
1998
Millennium Awards Scheme launched which enables CAFOD supporters to visit developing countries and share their experiences when they return.
CAFOD supporters join 70,000 people to form human chain around the G8 Summit in Birmingham to call for a debt-free start for the world's poor.
1999
CAFOD is part of the Kosovo Appeal launched by the Disasters and Emergencies Committee (DEC) as 500,000 people flee the Yugoslav region at war.
Around £8 million is raised in just three days and it is the first time Gift Aid is used in an emergency appeal.
