ZIM0801-2 Emergency Food Security Programme Manager - Zimbabwe

CAFOD is recruiting a programme manager to lead its emergency food security programme in Zimbabwe with the aim of reducing the impact of hunger on vulnerable households through direct food distributions and promoting recovery through agriculture support in conjunction with the existing Livelihoods Programme. The postholder will provide support and advice to CAFOD’s partners and programme staff to deliver an effective and high quality programme and will be responsible for all aspects of the programme including planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting. In addition, with the Regional Representative he/she will be responsible for all financial management and staff management associated with the programme, and will ensure that the programme is implemented within the agreed timescale. The postholder will have line management responsibility for a small team of staff.

The successful candidate will enjoy working in close collaboration with national NGOs and have the skills to lead and manage a large humanitarian programme. Excellent communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to display sound judgement and decision making and to work with tact, diplomacy and discretion. DAR0802-3 Water and Sanitation Sector Manager - Darfur

CAFOD, on behalf of the ACT and Caritas networks, is seeking a Water & Sanitation Sector Manager for the joint Darfur Emergency Response Operation (DERO). DERO is a multi-sector operation managed and implemented by ACT/Caritas working jointly with three national implementing members: the Sudan Council of Churches (SCC), Sudanaid (Caritas Sudan) and the Sudan Social Development Organisation (SUDO). The DERO programme is implemented in numerous locations across south and west Darfur. The sectors covered are Water & Sanitation, Health and Nutrition, School support, Agriculture, Peacebuilding, Protection and Psychosocial support, and Emergency Preparedness and Response.

The Water & Sanitation Sector Manager will be responsible for designing/planning, implementing, monitoring, supervising all NCA ACT/Caritas water, sanitation and hygiene promotion programmes supported by DERO. The post holder will participate in the management, particularly from a technical perspective, of some international staff and a large team of national staff in several field sites. Training and capacity building of national staff is a key part of the role, as is liaising with our local sectoral partners.

The programme needs a strong manager with good technical skills together with strong financial management and writing skills. Programme development skills are essential to ensure the programme responds to changing needs. Excellent skills in programme monitoring and evaluation will be necessary to ensure quality. Strong PRA skills to ensure community management of water and sanitation facilities are essential. The post holder will be a strong people manager, able to motivate, coordinate and lead a team of local partner, local staff and international staff to achieve programme objectives. Proven capacity building skills are essential. Finally, strong and wide ranging personal qualities such as self motivation, team building and flexibility will be a critical factor for success.

If you are a qualified civil engineer with proven experience implementing high quality water, sanitation and public health programmes in complex emergency situations and insecure environments and have the combination of skills listed above then we look forward to receiving your application.

Salary of between £28,571 - £29,761 depending on skills and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package including a 10% pension contribution, in-country costs etc. 12 month unaccompanied contract offered.
