Work and Training
In many countries, only a small proportion of the population is in paid employment, as most people provide for their families through farming or fishing
To make a living, people need skills, equipment, and a market to sell to, and training widens their range of opportunities in careers able to withstand economic downturns.
Jul Yap (pictured) works for our partner JPIP (Josefina Parish Integrated Programme), where he learned new farming methods. He says: “All our coconut trees are now bearing lots of fruit, and the soil is full of earthworms.
"We use totally chemical free farming methods and grow enough to feed my family. Without support I could not do what I’m doing on my farm or help our community as I do.”
