Emergencies updates
We respond to emergencies all over the world, reacting immediately by working through local organisations before, during and after the initial disaster
As well as helping people to recover and build a better life, we also help local communities prepare for future emergencies.
Acting before a crisis hits is crucial in order to reduce the risks that people and communities face, and forms part of the essential bridge between emergency and long-term development work.
We are doing much to develop effective early warning systems in areas prone to natural disasters, and drought-resistant crops across dry regions of Africa.
We also support chronic emergency situations in countries such as Sri Lanka, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo and Zimbabwe where our involvement has been continuous over many years.
