Pope Paul VI Lecture 2011: Charity begins at home: but what is charity and where is home?
Tickets are now available to purchase for the 24th Pope Paul VI Memorial Lecture, featuring Fr Christopher Jamison, a monk of Worth Abbey, author and broadcaster, known for his work on the BBC documentaries ‘The Monastery’ and ‘The Big Silence’.

In his lecture Fr Christopher Jamison OSB will explore the many ways in which people approach charity and show how these approaches are affected by a sense of home that is no longer confined to the place where we live. Set in the East End of London, against a backdrop of government spending cuts and increasing civil disorder, this year’s lecture is an invitation to take a fresh look at the best ways to address poverty in this country and overseas.
This year marks a change in venue, bringing the Pope Paul VI Memorial lecture and Fr Christopher’s message into the heart of a London community that battles with poverty and its effects on a daily basis. Bishop Challoner Collegiate School choir, the local Catholic secondary, will provide musical interludes, starting from 7pm.
Shelagh Fogarty, from BBC Radio 5 Live, will chair the lecture.
