Uganda: Planting Hope
Watch our documentary about war-torn Northern Uganda, which marked the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights at the “We the Peoples” film festival 2008
Planting Hope documents the severe trauma caused by 20 years of conflict in Northern Uganda, and highlights the emergence of hope as the population start to rebuild their lives.
Fought between the rebel Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) and the Uganda Government, the long conflict is one of the worst recent examples of human rights abuses in the world.
Over two decades more than 26,000 people were abducted, many of them children and, at one time, more than 95% of the population were forced out of their homes to live in over-crowded and dirty camps.
