AVEGA supports women widowed in the genocide.

There are a million widows in Rwanda – one in seven of the population – and many of them need specialist counselling for the added trauma of contracting HIV or AIDS as a result of rape.

AVEGA provides a forum for the women to share their experiences, offer mutual support and find solutions to their problems.
