CAFOD moderation rules

How the CAFOD Community is moderated

We created CAFOD Community to enable our supporters to talk to us and each other about global issues and the work CAFOD does.

The Community is all about lively debate and we are looking forward to reading your views. We don’t expect that everyone will agree on every subject, but we do expect that everyone will respect our House Rules <link to House Rules>, which aim to ensure the Community is safe and fun for everyone.

Sometimes, views are expressed with lots of passion. And occasionally, people with an axe to grind can abuse discussion boards to promote their own views at the expense of other members of the community. That’s why all discussions are moderated by CAFOD staff.

How does moderation work?

There are two types of moderation – and you’ll find a note on each discussion board saying which kind applies.

‘This discussion is pre-moderated’ means that every comment submitted is checked before it is published on the site.

We will endeavour to publish appropriate contributions as soon as we can, but inevitably there will be times when there is a delay, especially if the volume of comments is high.

‘This discussion is post-moderated’ means that comments will be published immediately. CAFOD staff will monitor discussion spaces and will delete contributions that we feel are inappropriate or violate House Rules (link to house rules).

How to report inappropriate comments

CAFOD Community members can complain about any comment they feel is inappropriate by using the “Report this comment” link which appears on each comment.
