CAFOD partner Srama-abimani ('Dignity of Labour') works in the rapidly industrialising Gampaha District, north of Colombo
The project provides welfare and recreational facilities for young women factory workers in the Free Trade Zone, who work long hours and have to live away from home in 'boarding houses'.
The project also helps organise factory workers and local families on a range of issues from workers' and consumer's rights to protecting the environment.
