The Dar Es Salaam Archdiocese runs a Community Health Education Programme (DACHEP) focusing in particular on women and children as well as a Community Health Education Programme and Pastoral Activities and Services for people living with AIDS (PASADA). PASADA aims to strengthen community responses to HIV and AIDS in Dar es Salaam. It is encouraging communities to become actively involved in prevention, care and support to people living with HIV and working to reduce stigma and discrimination.
DACHEP and PASADA engage with the government health management structures on policy issues and to raise awareness about gender issues.
