Introducing global issues (87.93 kB)
Top tips on the best ways to involve young people in the major issues and campaigns affecting the world today, plus details of which resources can help you
Listen to their voices activity (25.50 kB)
Exploring the lives of young people in Kenya and Uganda. As you listen to their stories, think of what sharing means and how sharing can really help.
Everyone should sit around in an informal circle or curve. If you have a video projector or some other method of projecting images of the girls in the stories, have that set up and ready to go first.
Online activity which can serve as a stepping stone for the group to devise, plan and carry out a liturgy on a theme or issue of their own choosing
One group can handle the readings and put together the liturgy sheets. They will have to work together with the second group, who handles the music. The third group will be responsible for the stage management of the liturgy.
Quiz: This can be used as part of a session where the video featuring Bahadha and Dermot O’Leary is shown. Use it as a stimulus for discussion and a starting point for planning a fundraising event
Are you the caring, sharing type (27.50 kB)
Quiz: Are you keen to share time, thoughts, actions and - yes, cash - so that people on the other side of the world benefit? Or is ‘looking after number one’ more your thing?
Youth prayer and reflection groups (27.00 kB)
A basic structure means you can have confidence of knowing what to do when preparing for each session and that what is being done has a familiar pattern to it.
It is also easier to do things “outside the norm” when there is an established pattern to break away from. It is also something that will be easier to return to. This is a template with notes to help you develop your own style.
Global Connections (236.17 kB)
A game to help show how we in the UK are interconnected with so many countries and cultures around the world. You have to find answers to the questions by going round the room asking different people questions.
When pupils have completed the quiz, they should have at least 16 reasons why they should be interested in so many other people and places around the world
