Lent Appeal 2010

Your generosity this Lent can provide a life-changing gift to a family – and help children to grow up healthy in any one of over 60 countries CAFOD works in worldwide.

Halima’s story is just one of the ways supporters have helped us to transform lives. Children die from drinking filthy water: in Nigeria alone, 200,000 children die every year.

Mothers such as Halima must spend their days searching for water, even though the risk is so high that what they find could actually end their children's lives. "The men are out working, so finding water becomes our duty," Halima says. "It is the biggest need we have as human beings, but we struggle to find water every day."

Thanks to a water project we have funded with our supporters' help, Halima's days of endless searching are at an end - and she also has the peace of mind brought by a safe, clean supply of water for her family.
