Pedal Against Poverty
27 May 2012
Lee Valley Country Park, North London
Last year over 180 people got on their bikes to pedal for change in the developing world. Will you be one of them this year?
The 2012 Pedal Against Poverty cycle ride through the beautiful landscapes of Lee Valley Country Park gives riders the choice of two routes: the full 18 mile return route commencing from Ponders End Lock, or a shorter 10 mile return route beginning in Cheshunt.
Both are off-road, following the flat, wide tow paths alongside the River Lee, and are suitable for cyclists of all ages and skill levels. At the halfway point in Broxbourne, riders can share a packed lunch picnic before setting off on the return leg.
“It is worth it…for the change you can make in people’s lives.”
Last year, our super cyclists raised over £8000 to fight poverty around the world.
“I came last year and had so much fun that I wanted to come back again,” said Roberto Falzone, who rode with a group of seven of his classmates from St Ignatius College, Enfield, “I’ve even set up a JustGiving page to help me raise money!”
Will you ride with us to make a change for the world’s poorest people?
We’re hoping this year’s ride is the most successful yet. We’re aiming to raise £15,000 - enough to bring clean water to 20 shanty towns in Latin America.
To register for the ride, download and complete a registration form . All riders must wear helmets, and we ask that all riders under 18 be accompanied by a responsible adult.
