Winter: Preparing for Lent

  • 8 -13 January Volunteer Lent packs arrive Focus countries - South Sudan, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh

  • 14-30 January Ask your Parish Priest about the Lent Appeal collection.

  • 18 January Place Big Lent Walk poster on the noticeboard at Church; put a notice about the Big Lent Walk in your parish newsletter.

  • 27 January Online information session at 7–8.30pm, about our Lent Appeal and CAFOD’s work in our parishes throughout 2026. With Bishop Stephen Wright, CAFOD Chair, and Jo Kitterick, Director of Fundraising and Participation.

  • 15 February Place the Family Fast Day poster up on the noticeboard; place a notice about our appeal in your parish newsletter.

Lent Season

  • 18 February Ash Wednesday 
    Flip your Big Lent Walk poster over to display our Ash Wednesday poster on your parish noticeboard; hand out Ash Wednesday bookmarks (in the parish pack) at Mass.

  • 22 February First Fast Day weekend - Speak at Mass for Family Fast Day; assist with the Lent Appeal collection.

  • 27 February Family Fast Day

  • 1 March Second Fast Day weekend - Speak at Mass for Family Fast Day; assist with the Lent Appeal collection.

  • 15 March Laetare Sunday 
    Place a thank you notice in your parish newsletter.
